Data comparison

for an intermunicipal syndicate

The enquiry

We received a request from an intercommunal syndicate in Luxembourg to compare data from different sources.

On the one hand, there is the data of the syndicate, which is managed in one database, and on the other hand, the information of the municipalities is stored in another database.

As the two systems are not connected, the aim was to find a way to compare the data from both systems and find the differences so that they can be analysed and adjusted.

For this we:

Analysed the structure of both databases.

Clarified with the customer where the information from one system can be found in the other system.

This was a very important step, because the structure of the databases allows information to be entered in different columns, so that 2 columns from one system have to be compared with a column from the other system. Other data is spread over several columns in one system.

Wrote a programme,

in which the customer can import the data from both systems and at the end a list is created in which the differences are highlighted and the data records that are only available in one or the other system are displayed.

This allows the customer to compare the data at any time and then adjust it so that the data in both systems matches.

It was fun to once again solve a problem that has nothing to do with BIM, CAD or Facility Management.

That's exactly what's interesting about working at OneTools Project Luxembourg. There are so many different problems that we can help our customers with.
And if we are ever confronted with a problem that we cannot solve ourselves, we have competent partners from a wide variety of sectors that we can fall back on.

We would like to thank our customer for their trust and look forward to a good and long co-operation.

If you would like to tackle a similar project or have any other questions, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
