Data comparison

for an intermunicipal syndicate

The request

We received a request from an intermunicipal syndicate in Luxembourg to compare data from different sources.

On the one hand, there is the data of the syndicate, which is managed in one database, and on the other hand, there is the information of the municipalities in another database.

Since the two systems are not linked, the aim was to find a way to compare the data from both systems and find the differences so that they can be analysed and adjusted.

For this we:

Analysed the structure of both databases.

Clarified with the client where the information from one system can be found in the other system.

This was a very important step, because the structure of the databases allows information to be entered partly in different columns, so that you must compare two columns from one system with one column from the other system. Other data is spread over several columns in one system.

Wrote a programme,

where the client can read in the data from both systems and at the end a list is created in which the differences are highlighted, or the data records are displayed that are only available in one system or the other system.

This allows the client to compare the data at any time and then adjust it to match the data in both systems.

It was fun to once again solve a problem that has nothing to do with BIM, CAD or Facility Management.

That is exactly what is interesting about working at OneTools Project Luxembourg. There are so many different problems we can help our clients with.

And if we are confronted with a problem that we can’t solve ourselves, we have competent partners from a wide range of disciplines to fall back on.

We thank our customers for their trust and look forward to a good and long cooperation.

If you would like to tackle a similar project or have any other questions, please contact us. We look forward to hearing from you.
